While all other Stackable containers are managed, a VPS (Virtual Private Server) container is completely unmanaged. This means that VPS containers provide root-level access to the operating system, allowing users to install a wide variety of software packages.

When creating a VPS container, you have the option of the following operating systems:
  • Centos 5
  • Ubuntu 10.04
  • Ubuntu 10.10
  • Debian 5.0
Windows VPS containers are not offered at this time.

When creating the container, you will be asked for a root password. After you've created the container, you can connect to the container via SSH using the username "root" and the password you set when creating the container.

Please note that VPS containers are entirely unmanged by Stackable. We suggest that those who would like to use VPS containers have a strong knowledge of Linux systems administration as we provide only limited technical support.
